Our services start with a review of your current situation, risk tolerance and goals to determine your wealth management needs.

The information gathered will be used to create an investor profile taking into account your risk tolerance, time horizon and liquidity concerns. In conjunction with the investor profile, a wealth strategy is formulated. This outlines where you are currently and where you want to be in the future with respect to your financial objectives.

A determination will be made of the investment accounts as required to suit your specific needs and the investment alternatives that suit your objectives and tolerances. The type of account may include:

  • Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)
  • Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF)
  • Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA)
  • Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)

The investment alternatives available include bonds, preferred shares, mutual funds and common shares.

In addition, you will be able to choose the type of investment account, including brokered (fee for service), flat fee and discretionary management.

  1. Brokered is the traditional method of holding an account whereby a fee is only paid when a transaction (buy or sell) is conducted after receiving instructions from you.
  2. In a Flat Fee account, a transaction can only be done on your instructions, but a set fee is changed based on the market value of the account.
  3. In Discretionary Management, you would enter into an agreement where I, as a Portfolio Manager, will make investment decisions on your behalf and a set fee is charged based on the market value of the account.

Once the strategy is in place, the accounts will be reviewed with you on a regular (at least quarterly) basis. Not all reviews will result in a performance report and a phone call, but the account will be examined and the appropriate revisions will be suggested if necessary.

At least once a year there will be a face-to-face or phone meeting with the client to discuss the performance of the financial plan and to revisit any material changes that would impact the overall financial plan. If changes have occurred, the proper amendments to the financial plan will be made.

The type of investments and account will focus on your needs and tolerances to help achieve your objectives and keep your informed.
